May Red Chair Event- Lorenna Grant

Lorenna_Grant_Breath_in_and_hold_s

You could hear a pin drop in the Barn at Montsalvat as Lorenna Grant spoke about her work and her experience of the residency at Laughing Waters, for the May Red Chair Event.
I think it's important to see her work to get an adequate sense of the scope of it.  The sculpture above is called "Breath in and hold". Each little hand blown glass ball holds a single breath.  They sit on a metal disk which, with the aid of a tiny motor, vibrates ever so slightly...so that the sculpture has an auditory element.  I wish I could see and hear this piece in the 'flesh'.  How beautiful.
I encourage you to take a look at this link where you will see the making of one of Lorenna's other public pieces called "Whole you were meant to be here".
A look at her website is a must.
