Art Melbourne is an enormous art fair right in the heart of Melbourne. It runs from Thursday 24th May to 27th May. In addition to offering the work of local and international artists, art lovers can enjoy,
Educational art talks, printmaking demonstrations, live entertainment and a diverse range of galleries and artists on site, [it] creates the perfect environment to discover the art world without feeling intimidated. (copied from the Art Melbourne website)

One of the Yarra Valley Open Studios artists, Ember Fairbairn has been selected to exhibit this year. Isiiad featured Ember's work last year, in the leadup to the YVOS.

Her daily spiritual practice is entwined in her arts practice, incorporating meditation and present centredness in the making of her sublime images.

In describing her work for Art Melbourne she said,
"...it's mysterious...my latest body of work is a  combination of things.  It is the water of nature reflected as the water element of our bodies, the yin principle that nurtures and sustains our life and wellbeing.  The need to also observe emotion as water- allowing it to move and flow just as nature does. Letting it spill forth, towards or away, always seeking the lowest point.  The work often abstractly expresses what can't be spoken, in the act of making the mark spontaneously and being fully present to the process,  which is simply 'being' rather than 'doing' or 'thinking' and also being faithful to that simple truth that some spark of the magic of life or essence wants to be expressed."

What results from this process is breathtakingly beautiful images that allow you into the soul of the painter for a brief captivating moment.
